Cornwall bar manager illegally employs staff

A bar manager from Cornwall has been illegally employing people without a licence, the Security Industry Authority (SIA) has said.

The governmental organisation said the man had employed an in-house door staff team at a Falmouth bar without holding a valid licence.

The police and Cornwall Council said they received information that unlicensed staff might be employed.

It has not been revealed whether the bar manager will be prosecuted.

Cornwall Council said these were common spot-checks to ensure the public are not being placed at risk as a result of breaches of licence conditions.

The SIA is the organisation responsible for regulating the private security industry.

The organisation said the spot-check happened on Saturday night.
