Injured dolphin on Carne Beach put to sleep
An injured dolphin found stranded on a Cornish beach has been put to sleep.
The coastguard was alerted to the distressed animal on Carne Beach on the Roseland Peninsula on Monday morning.
The British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) said the dolphin had a badly broken jaw, with bones protruding through the skin and missing teeth.
It also had poor nutrition as a result of the injury and could not be put back in the water. A post-mortem examination is due to take place later.
It is not yet known how the dolphin sustained its injuries.
