Man dies in car crash on A390 near St Ive

A 68-year-old man has died after a collision in east Cornwall.

The police were called to a crash involving two vehicles on the A390 near St Ive on Saturday.

The male driver and female passenger of a Mazda sports car had serious injuries and were airlifted to Derriford Hospital, where the man died.

Police said they were both from Torpoint. The incident happened at about 12:40 BST and the people in the other car were not seriously injured.

Police said the female passenger in the Mazda was 59 years old and was in a stable condition in hospital.

The occupants of the other car were a family from New Zealand who were on holiday in the UK, police said.

The two adults and four children suffered shock and minor seat belt injuries.

The A390 was closed for several hours while police investigated the cause of the collision.
