Unemployment in Cornwall up with more jobless claimants

The number of people out of work and claiming jobseeker's allowance in Cornwall has risen slightly.

The figure for July from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) was 8,163 - 88 more than June.

It represents 2.5% of the population, but despite the slight rise it remains below the 3.8% national average.

Across the UK, the number of claimants rose for the third month in a row - up by 37,100 to 1.56 million, which is the biggest rise for more than two years.
