Penryn Infants School closes after water main bursts

An infants school in Cornwall has had to close early because of a burst water main.

Penryn Infants School said with no fresh water for drinking, washing or flushing toilets it had no option but to close.

South West Water (SWW) said about 120 properties had been affected by the problem at Roskrow.

SWW has apologised to customers in Falmouth, Stithians and Penryn who experienced disruption to supplies.

The company said it had re-routed supplies and was "working to repair the main as soon as possible".

A spokesman said it was hoped supplies could be reinstated "within a few hours".
