Newquay fisherman suffers finger injury

A fisherman from Newquay is being treated in hospital after losing part of his finger in a winch.

The local inshore lifeboat was called out to the man's fishing boat which was lying about three miles off the North Cornwall coast.

The vessel was escorted back to the mooring in Newquay's bay.

The injured man was brought into the harbour where he was treated by an RNLI volunteer, who is also a paramedic, before being taken on to hospital.
