Man charged on Cobbaton Combat Museum firearms burglary

A man has been charged with burglary at a military museum in Devon.

A number of deactivated firearms including AK47 assault rifles, machine guns and pistols were reported missing from Cobbaton Combat Museum in Umberleigh in August.

Officers from Barnstaple CID said inquiries led them to an address in South Wales where firearms were found.

A 44-year-old Cardiff man will appear before Barnstaple magistrates in October.

Det Con James Rees, from Barnstaple CID, said: "This is a very unusual incident.

"We were pleased that with the help of South Wales Police we were able to locate all of the firearms and that they will be returned to the museum."
