Three deported after immigration raid in Cornwall

Three men found working illegally at a Cornwall restaurant have been deported, the UK Border Agency has said.

They were found on Friday 30 September during a raid at the restaurant in Callington.

The men - two aged 22 and one aged 23 - were all in the UK on student visas but were working instead of attending courses, the agency said.

They were arrested, taken to immigration detention and deported to Bangladesh on Thursday, it added.

The restaurant was facing a fine of up to £10,000 per illegal member of staff unless it could provide evidence that the correct right-to-work checks were made before the men were taken on.
