St Gennys low carbon community group awarded £76,000

A north Cornwall community group has been awarded £76,000 government funding for a sustainable housing project.

St Gennys Low Carbon Community is one of the projects to receive money from the government's Local Energy Assessment Fund (LEAF).

Led by Trelay Farm sustainability group, the project aims to insulate houses in the parish and encourage energy efficiency.

Project leader Jackie Carpenter said the group has been "very lucky indeed".

Ms Carpenter said: "It will make a difference to us, it will make a difference to the local economy because we are going to be paying people to do parts of this work and it will make a difference to everybody locally to save energy and save money."
