Cornwall sees unemployment rise

The number of people out of work and claiming benefit in Cornwall has risen again, according to the latest figures.

In January the unemployment figures rose to 10,794 or 3.3%, lower than the UK average of 4.1%.

Devon now has a similar number of jobless people at 10,979, 2.4% of the population.

The government said most job seekers moved from benefits into work "well within a year".
