Camelford residents complain of heating failure on estate

Some families living on a north Cornwall housing estate claim they have been without heating for five weeks.

It follows the breakdown in the under floor central heating system at the estate in Camelford.

Residents said they have had little or no heating since January.

The Westcountry Housing Association said it was working to repair the heat distribution system to houses on Treclago View and residents would receive compensation.

'Really sorry'

One of those affected, Tasha Tootle, who has a one-year-old daughter, said: "We had to wrap her up warm. We couldn't bath her as we didn't have hot water.

"Upstairs is freezing cold. It's been an inconvenience really to try and find heaters from other places which is costing us so much in electricity."

The head of asset management for the housing association, Tony Sharland, said: "We're really sorry to hear what has happened to Miss Tootle and her neighbours.

"We believe we have now identified the problem. All the customers affected will receive payment for additional cost and receive compensation for the heating not working."
