Cornwall and Scilly fishing industry lands £1m EU aid

More than £1m of European money has been given to help fishing communities in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The money will help develop smaller communities where fishing is declining.

Applications for a share of the £1.13m European Fisheries Fund are assessed by the Fisheries Local Action Group (Flag).

Flag said: "Changes mean these communities, their residents and workers need a boost to support their well-being."

The decision making board will be made up of people from the local community including the fishing industry and private, public and voluntary sector organisations.
