Arsonists start half the wild fires in Cornwall, fire chiefs say

More than half of all wildfires in Cornwall were started deliberately during March 2011, fire chiefs have revealed.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) said it attended 81 incidents, more than 40 of which were started on purpose.

CFRS said blazes started deliberately on waste or gorse land delayed the service in attending other emergencies.

It added the service should be told of any controlled burning on private land.
