Par and St Blazey get Jubilee cash help

Cornish villagers are to get a share of government funding to help them celebrate the Queen's Jubilee.

Par and St Blazey were picked by the Big Jubilee Lunch and the Eden Project, which looked at a lack of previous community events and economic factors.

The cash, amounting to several thousand pounds, will help pay for celebrations including a barbecue and entertainment in Par on 4 June.

St Blazey is holding a children's disco and 1950s style sports day on 6 June.

Twenty English communities were awarded money as part of a £185,000 fund to assist communities organise celebrations over the weekend of the Diamond Jubilee, to mark the Queen's 60-year reign.
