An agricultural show in Cornwall which was postponed because of heavy rain will take place on Saturday.

The committee of the Liskeard Show decided to postpone the event from its original 14 July date.

Adverse weather conditions meant the ground where the show is held was too muddy to cope with livestock or vehicle movement.

In 109 years the show has only been cancelled once and that was due to the foot and mouth disease outbreak.

A spokesman from the show said: "There are a record number of cattle, sheep and horse entries this year and the committee are hopeful that the exhibitors, competitors and indeed spectators will support them on the new date."
