Cornwall hospital engineer hurt in lift shaft fall

An engineer has fallen down a hospital lift shaft in Cornwall.

The man suffered neck and back injuries in the fall at the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske, said Cornwall Fire and Rescue.

The service said the man, who was carrying out routine maintenance, was lifted from the shaft at 14:42 BST and is being treated at the hospital.

A hospital spokesman said an investigation was under way.
