Ten arrested in Falmouth street brawls

Ten men have been arrested in Falmouth after a number of brawls.

Officers were called to Church Street at about 02:30 BST after reports that a man was refused entry a club by staff.

He was arrested and a series of clashes then ensued between a group of men from the Hayle and St Ives area and local young people, thought to be students, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

Police said officers and the local community would not tolerate drunken behaviour in the town.

The 10 are in custody awaiting questioning, officers said.

Insp Mark Richards, of Devon and Cornwall Police, said the brawls appeared to be a series of individual minor altercations among a crowd of about 150 people.
