About 40 firefighters have been tackling a fire at a house in Cornwall.

Emergency services were called to the property in Port Navas on the Helford River, near Falmouth, at about 09:40 BST.

A spokesman from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said the owner of the property had confirmed that no-one was inside the building.

The spokesman added that fire crews were expected to remain at the scene for some time.

More than half of the house is thought to have been destroyed by the blaze.

The alarm was raised by people onboard a sailing boat on the river.

Crews from as far as Wadebridge have been helping to extinguish the fire.
