Cornwall's September unemployment figure rises slightly

There has been a small rise in the number of people out of work and claiming benefits in Cornwall.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed the claimant count for September was 8,678 - up 43 from 8,635 the previous month.

In percentage terms, the figure equates to about 2.6% of the county's workforce - lower than the national rate of 3.8%.

Across the UK, 1.57m people claimed Jobseeker's Allowance in September - down by 4,000.
