A teenager whose car flipped over into 1ft (30cm) of water in Cornwall was saved from drowning by members of the public, the police have said.

The 18-year-old's car aquaplaned on Par Moor Road, Par, at about 19:20 GMT on Christmas Eve.

Police said the Honda Civic flipped over and the driver was "helped before she drowned" by local residents.
