Cornwall's unemployment figure rises in December

There was a slight increase in unemployment in Cornwall last month, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Figures for December show 9,955 people were out of work and claiming jobseeker's allowance - 442 more than the figure of 9,513 for November 2012.

At 3%, Cornwall's unemployment rate is lower than the national rate of 3.7%.

Nationally, the number of claimants was down by 12,100 last month to 1.56 million.
