Launceston breakdown A30 pedestrian hit by lorry

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being knocked down by a lorry in Cornwall.

The man was attempting to fix his car which had broken down on the A30 between Launceston and Five Lanes when he was injured.

The accident, involving a Renault HGV, happened just after 13:00 BST on Sunday, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

The injured man was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth by air ambulance.

A police spokesman said the road, which was closed for several hours for crash investigators, was reopened at about 18:00 BST.

Anyone with information about the accident has been asked to contact police.
