The family of a GP who was stabbed to death at his home have said they are "devastated by the tragic loss".

The body of Geraint Hughes, 60, was found at his home near Feock, Cornwall, last Friday.

A 58-year-old woman, believed to be his wife Marion, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

She was treated for injuries in hospital before being discharged and was now in custody, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

Dr Hughes was the senior partner at the Clinton Road Surgery in Redruth.

His family said: "We are devastated by the tragic loss of our devoted and caring father.

"He was always there for us and we cannot believe he is gone."
