A driver has died after his car collided with another car in icy conditions in Cornwall.

The man, who is thought to have been in his 40s and from Penzance, was driving a BMW Z3 on the A394 when it collided with a VW Polo heading in the other direction on Sunday morning.

The woman driving the VW is in hospital with serious injuries after the crash at Rame, near Penryn.

The crash was one of several on the county's roads.

Anyone who witnessed the crash has been urged to contact police.

A serious accident on the A39 closed the road in both directions between St Teath and Wadebridge on Monday.

Black ice is believed to have been on the road at the time.
