'Arson' attack at disused Wadebridge industrial building

Fire scene in Polmorla Road, Wadebridge Firefighters were concerns the fire could spread to other properties

A disused industrial building has been damaged in a suspected arson attack in Cornwall.

Firefighters were called to the 25m by 12m (80ft by 40ft) site in Polmorla Road, Wadebridge, on Saturday night.

Two elderly nearby residents were asked to leave their homes because of concerns the fire could spread. The town hall was used as a temporary shelter, the fire service said.

An investigation has begun into the cause.

Fire crews were called to the site at about 21:20 GMT and left the scene at about 02:00. Residents were also allowed to return to their homes.
