Tintagel family in shock at toddler Holly Young's death

The family of a two-year-old girl who was knocked down and killed in Cornwall on Tuesday have spoken of their shock at losing her.

Holly Young was hit by a van in her home town of Tintangel, while she was on a shopping trip with her older sister and baby sister.

The toddler was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, where she was pronounced dead.

The Young family said the support from villagers had been overwhelming.

Family thanks

"We still cannot believe our beautiful daughter has been taken from us," a statement said.

"We would like to thank those who rushed to help Holly and the emergency services who fought to save her life, sadly to no avail."

Devon and Cornwall Police has appealed for witnesses to the crash.

In particular, they would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and can remember seeing a young woman walking with a pushchair and a toddler.

The van driver was treated for shock by paramedics before being transferred to Derriford Hospital for observation. His condition is not known.
