Vandals have broken into a surf school in Cornwall and burnt wheelchairs used by people with disabilities to enjoy the beach, staff say.

Wavehunters surf school in Polzeath said staff found the two wide-wheeled chairs, which cost about £3,000 each, destroyed when they arrived on Friday morning.

Owner Andy Cameron said a storage trailer was also "trashed quite badly".

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed they were investigating.

Mr Cameron said the chairs had been taken on to the beach and burnt.

Surf boards were also burnt and the business's power supply damaged, he said.
