A woman's body has been found in a ditch after a suspected hit-and-run.

It was discovered on Trewiston Lane, near Rock in Cornwall, after police were alerted by a member of the public shortly before 04:45 BST.

Devon and Cornwall Police said they believed the 45-year-old local woman was hit by a vehicle.

A Land Rover Defender parked at Exeter St David's Railway Station was found several hours later with damage to its nearside front.

Officers said the damaged vehicle was consistent with one they were trying to trace.

It was taken away for forensic examination and an area near the car park was searched.

The woman's next of kin have been informed.
