Human remains discovered near Newquay will take up to a month to identify, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said they were waiting for results from DNA tests.

Chad Gibson, 33, from St Austell, has been missing from the town since December 2015, where a major police investigation was launched.

Police informed Mr Gibson's family the remains had been discovered earlier this month.

A spokesman said: "Initial identification attempts have been inconclusive, therefore the remains will now undergo DNA comparisons.

"It will take at least a month before police receive these results."
