Warwickshire plans to keep five youth centres out of 18

Youth centres across Warwickshire could close with five kept as centres of excellence, council papers show.

The county council has confirmed it needs to make cuts of £33m in its youth services.

Almost 360 people are employed in the youth sector, and unions have said they fear up to 80% could lose their jobs.

The council meets next week to discuss the proposals which would see centres kept open in Atherstone, Camp Hill, Lillington, Studley and Nuneaton.

A Warwickshire County Council spokeswoman said it was hoped that volunteers would step in to help with the remaining 18 youth centres.
