Man held over Leamington Spa bus crash death

A 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder over the death of a pedestrian who was hit by a bus in Warwickshire.

The victim, aged 40, was struck by a Stagecoach bus in Bath Street, Leamington Spa, at 2330 BST on Friday.

Officers want witnesses to come forward who saw the two pedestrians together in Bath Street or near All Saint's Church prior to the incident.

The driver of the bus was treated for shock following the crash.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said the death was being treated as suspicious.

He said: "Police investigating the circumstances of the man's death would like to hear from anyone who was in Bath Street between 11pm and 11.30pm near to All Saints Church and the shops on the opposite side of the street on Friday night, especially anyone who may have seen two men together prior to the incident."
