Tributes have been paid to a former Lord Mayor of Coventry who has died at the age of 66.

Jack Harrison MBE was described as a tireless fundraiser who raised thousands for good causes, including Coventry's University Hospital.

The hospital's chief executive Andy Hardy said he was passionate about helping the community.

Mr Harrison was mayor in 2009-2010 and first elected onto the city council in 1996, the council said.

Mr Hardy said: "He would work 24/7, 365 days a year if he could for things he was passionate about.

"But, at the same time, he always had time for his family and I know that my thoughts are with Jill and his sons."

Mr Harrison had been a Justice of the Peace since 1983 and was also a non-executive director of the hospital.
