A Warwickshire soldier who died in Afghanistan has been recognised posthumously with a Mention in Despatches.

Pte Conrad Lewis, of 4th Battalion The Parachute Regiment, was shot along with a colleague patrolling an area in the Nad-e Ali district of Helmand province.

The 22-year-old, from Claverdon, died on 9 February and his body was repatriated a week later.

His funeral, with full military honours, was held in Warwick.

Pte Lewis's father, Tony, described his son, who was born in Bournemouth, Dorset, as "an outstanding young man" who made "an impact with just about everybody he connected with".
