The BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Band of the Month for October is Charles Dexter Ward and the Imagineers.

The Coventry band, who describe their music as Victorian Psychedelia, are the perfect band for a night of Halloween music and merriment.

They will be appearing at Taylor John's House on 28 October as part of the Halloween Hootenanny.

It is an exciting time for the band as they have also reached the semi-finals of a battle of the bands competition.

Other bands playing at the Halloween Hootnenanny are Resurrection Men, Light Cascades, Invitation To Love, Richard Warren and Men Diamler.

Earlier this year, Charles Dexter Ward and the Imagineers also released their debut EP and released a 7-inch vinyl single of The Ghost of Charles Dexter Ward.

Their music is dark, eerie and poetic and harks back to the age of smoggy streets, the mysterious East End of London, Sherlock Holmes and things that go bump in the night.

Their shows are as dramatic as the music, with gloves and top hats aplenty.

Following the chance to participate in a battle of the bands competition fell into their laps, they have reached the semi-finals, which take place in Bilston in November.

You can hear music from Charles Dexter Ward and the Imagineers every Friday and Saturday on BBC Introducing in Coventry and Warwickshire.
