Hams Hall new car cruising injunction granted

A new injunction to crack down on illegal "car cruises" in a part of Warwickshire has been granted to police and the county council.

The two-year injunction has been increased to cover Bassetts Pole as well as the Hams Hall industrial site and surrounding area.

Cars and motorcycles are not allowed to be driven in convoy, or used to race or cause danger to other road users.

Those who are found to be in breach of the injunction could be imprisoned.

Sgt Roger Fildes, from Warwickshire Police, said it was an extra tool to prevent serious accidents as well as reducing negative impact on local residents and businesses.

"What we want to try and do is stop this type of thing happening because our aim is to reduce the number of killed and seriously injured RTCs (road traffic collisions) on the roads of Warwickshire," he said

"If it [car cruising] moves elsewhere we'll have to look at that, or other forces will have to look at that, and deal with it appropriately."

The previous injunction ran out in August and the new one came into effect on 17 October.
