Woman rescued from burning flats in Coventry

An elderly woman was rescued from an upstairs window at a burning block of flats in Coventry on Monday night.

The upper floor of the property in Weymouth Close, Willenhall, was severely damaged by fire at 23:30 GMT.

A woman was rescued using an extending ladder before being taken to hospital, West Midlands Fire Service said.

A young couple were also taken to hospital. All three were treated for smoke inhalation, according to ambulance staff.
