A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a police pursuit in Coventry on Wednesday.

A black Toyota Celica was stopped by armed officers on the A45 between the junctions of Tile Hill Lane and Standard Avenue at 14:30 GMT.

The man was also arrested on suspicion of rioting and, along with another 26-year-old-man, of firearms offences.

Police say a gun was recovered from the scene. The two men remain in custody.

A 20-year-old man was also arrested on Wednesday evening on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

A police spokesman said the attempted murder relates to an incident last month and the rioting to last year's August disturbances.
