Ice warning issued in Coventry and Warwickshire

Residents in Coventry and Warwickshire were warned to "be aware" of ice as the Met Office predicted temperatures would struggle to get above freezing.

A widespread frost in some areas was expected on Friday night along with a risk of icy patches, particularly where snow cover remains.

The ambulance service urged the public "to be mindful of the conditions" if venturing out by car or on foot.

Pedestrians especially "should wear appropriate footwear", it said.

The Met Office's "yellow" warning, for people to be aware of snow and ice, was not as severe as the "amber" be prepared or the "red" take action categories.
