Extra support for Warwickshire domestic abuse victims

Plans to provide more support for people affected by domestic violence in Warwickshire have been announced.

The county council said housing association Home Group and charity Refuge will take over its domestic abuse support contract from April.

Councillor Richard Hobbs said the changes would support a wider range of people experiencing domestic abuse.

Up to 8,000 domestic abuse incidents are reported to Warwickshire Police every year, the council said.

The Conservative-controlled authority said the two contracts were worth £2.1m over four years.
