Sainsbury's plans £40m development base in Warwickshire
Supermarket giant Sainsbury's has revealed plans to create a £40m product development base in Warwickshire.
The centre will be part of the former Ericsson site at Ansty Park, near Coventry.
It will provide a mock retail space to enable the company to develop and test new product lines.
Earlier this year, Sainsbury's announced plans to move its store support centre at Walsgrave Triangle to Ansty Park.
About 700 jobs were lost when Ericsson moved from the site between Coventry and Rugby.
The plans submitted to Rugby Borough Council also include a car park and support facilities.
Ian Davis, director at Rugby Borough Council, said: "We've done a lot of work behind the scenes with Sainsbury's over the last nine to twelve months, to get to this point.
"They're not only occupying the buildings vacated by Ericsson, but are now looking to consolidate and do some further development there."
