New affordable homes planned in Coventry

Plans to build up to 500 affordable homes in Coventry have been revealed.

Social landlord Whitefriars Housing said the £50m scheme would see new houses built and existing ones refurbished over the next five years.

City Council figures showed that about 20,000 people were on the waiting list for social housing in Coventry.

The authority said it welcomed the news because there was a "real lack of homes that are available on affordable rents".
