Nursery Tavern in Coventry targeted by masked robbers
A gang of masked robbers have threatened a Coventry pub landlord and his customers with knives and a hammer.
Police said five men entered the Nursery Tavern, Lord Street, on Wednesday at about 21:40 GMT and ordered customers to stay in the bar.
The landlord, who was upstairs at the time, was punched in the face by one of the men when he came to investigate.
The gang then forced him back upstairs to open the safe at knifepoint and took a "considerable amount of cash".
The customers were then forced upstairs while the men escaped.
Det Con Barry Heal from West Midlands Police said the customers were "extremely shaken by their ordeal".
He said: "The landlord suffered cuts and bruises but fortunately was not seriously injured."
"We are appealing for any witnesses who we have not already spoken with to come forward. In particular we would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious outside the pub at the time of the robbery."
