A family in Coventry cannot return home after a lightning strike destroyed the roof of their property.

Lightning hit the two-storey house on Ashfield Avenue in Tile Hill at about 18:00 BST on Monday.

West Midlands Fire Service spent three hours securing the building that had such "severe damage" all its roof tiles had to be removed.

The family that rents the house was out at the time of the strike and there were no injuries.
