Stafford Gypsy site plans to be unveiled

Plans are being unveiled for a new Gypsy and traveller site in Stafford.

It is proposed for a council-owned site off St Albans Road that has been vacant for more than 25 years and would allow space for up to 36 pitches.

The pitches would be used by the local Gypsy and traveller community which would take over the management of the site, Stafford Borough Council said.

Authorities must provide areas, and the council said it was the only suitable site found after a three-year search.

The plans will be unveiled next Tuesday and residents are being encouraged to attend the event at Stafford Rangers FC social club between 15:00 and 19:00 BST, the council spokesman said.
