Consultation opens into Rugby 6,000 homes plan
A public consultation has opened into plans to build 6,000 new homes on a former radio mast site outside Rugby.
It is after developers resubmitted proposals to build on the site between Hillmorton and Clifton-upon-Dunsmore.
They were first unveiled two years ago and some local residents said they were worried about increased traffic in the area.
MP for Rugby Mark Pawsey welcomed the plans, saying they would breathe new life into the local economy.
The Conservative MP said: "It brings new homes, it brings jobs, it brings commercial space.
"We're going to have three new primary schools and a secondary. There's a lot of green space built into it and I think it will be a good and pleasant environment."
The radio masts, which dated back to 1926, were demolished in 2007.
The consultation, run by Rugby Borough Council, is due to close on 31 October.
