Cheylesmore body find starts murder investigation

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman's body was found in Coventry.

West Midlands Police said the body of 53-year-old Tracey Snook-Kite was found by the ambulance service in The Monks Croft, a road in the Cheylesmore area of the city, at 06:40 on Sunday.

A post-mortem test showed she had sustained head injuries.

A 48-year-old man was arrested at the property on suspicion of murder and is being held in custody, police said.

Detectives investigating the death want talk to a taxi driver who may have driven the victim home from the Earlsdon area on Saturday night.

Det Insp Harry Harrison, said: "We know Tracey was picked up from the taxi rank outside the Albany Club at around 23:00 GMT on Saturday evening.

"The driver, who we believe to be Asian, could have vital information that may assist our investigation and I would appeal for them to contact us as soon as possible."

The house is being treated as a crime scene and remains cordoned off, police said.
