Girl killed in Walsgrave on Sowe crash named as Lucy Commins, 16

A teenage girl who died in a crash involving two cars in Warwickshire has been named by police.

Lucy Commins, 16, was a passenger in a Mercedes when it was in collision with Volkswagen Golf in Ansty Road, Walsgrave on Sowe, near Coventry.

Police said the male drivers of both cars are still in hospital following the collision at 23:00 GMT on Saturday.

A second teenage girl, aged 17, who was in the Mercedes, remains in hospital with serious injuries.

West Midlands Police said it wanted to trace a dark-coloured Ford that was travelling on the same carriageway as the Golf just before the crash.

Sgt Stuart Thorpe said: "The driver or occupants of the Ford will be vital in piecing together the circumstances of this collision.

"The Ford has black alloy wheels and had distinctive centre caps, which had been spray painted black with an unusual red Ford logo."
