M6 reopens in Warwickshire after fatal crash

A car passenger has been killed in a crash involving a lorry that caused the M6's northbound carriageway to be closed for a number of hours.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the crash caused the lorry to overturn between junction 4 for Coleshill and 4A at about 04:55 BST.

The car passenger suffered multiple injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene.

The two drivers were taken to hospital and the road reopened at about 14:00.

The car driver, reported to be in his 30s, freed himself from the vehicle and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The lorry driver, believed to be in his 50s, is being treated in hospital for suspected fractured ribs.
