A 78-year-old man has admitted killing his wife on grounds of diminished responsibility.

Anthony Mann was arrested at his home on Golf Drive, Nuneaton, in June, where police found the body of his wife, Janet, 77.

The judge at Warwickshire Justice Centre gave Mann a two year suspended prison sentence for manslaughter.

Police said "a tragic set of circumstances" had resulted in Mrs Mann's death.

Det Supt James Essex, from West Mercia Police, said: "I am satisfied with the outcome of the court proceedings today.

"I hope the Mann family can now begin to rebuild their lives."
