Missing Nicola Payne: Coombe Abbey Country Park lake searched
A lake is being searched as part of investigations into the disappearance of Nicola Payne, who went missing more than 23 years ago.
West Midlands Police launched the search at Coombe Abbey Country Park, in Coventry, after a preliminary sonar examination by Home Office scientists.
Ms Payne, 18, was last seen in the city on 14 December 1991. Despite several searches a body has never been found.
Two men denied murder when they appeared in court on Thursday
Nigel Barwell, 50, of Copperas Street, Coventry, and Thomas O'Reilly, 50, of Ribble Road in the city, have been remanded in custody until a trial on 5 October.
Shallow water searches in the park will resume after further analysis, police said.
The force said it requested the initial Home Office examination of the area.
In the years since Ms Payne disappeared, parents John and Marilyn have made appeals for information to trace their daughter.
Police said they would continue to follow up "any information" which could help them find her.
There have been three police investigations since Ms Payne's disappearance.
